The City of Laguna Hills is located in South Orange
County between Los Angeles and San Diego. The City currently encompasses
6.4 square miles with a population of
31,017. Although the majority of the City is
comprised of residential neighborhoods, it's home to over 500 businesses
with a strong commercial base anchored by the regional Laguna Hills
Mall, the Oakbrook Village Shopping Center, and Saddleback Memorial
Hospital.
Laguna Hills incorporated as a City in 1991 after living
a rich history in the 1800 and 1900's as vast ranch lands for cattle
grazing. As population expansion headed south, Orange County found
itself populated largely by new residential developments. This fast
growth brought the need for business opportunities, City governments,
and expanded police services.
Laguna Hills, along with several other South County
cities, contracts with the Orange County Sheriff's Department for police
services. This agreement enables our City to enjoy a full spectrum of
law enforcement services including a full-time police force,
investigative services, vehicle abatement, crime prevention activities,
traffic enforcement, and accident investigations.
Lieutenant Steve Doan is currently assigned as the Chief
of Police Services for Laguna Hills. Lieutenant Doan is a
20 year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff's Department and has been
working with the City since April 2004.
Laguna Hills Police Services' mission is to provide
responsive, professional, and caring law enforcement to all our
citizens. As one of the safest cities in the Country, our police
services prides itself on our working partnership with the community
including Neighborhood Watch and Speed Watch programs, a planned
Business Watch program, and School Resource programs designed to educate
and build a stronger partnership with our youth.
