Staton Aerial View The Orange County Sheriff's Department is proud to be the provider of local law enforcement services for the City of Stanton. The Sheriff's Department has provided law enforcement services to the City of Stanton since February of 1988 when the City Police Department and Sheriff’s Department merged. The merger was the result of a recommendation from both the Stanton Police Chief and the Orange County Sheriff to the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the Stanton City Council. The recommendation was based upon a three month study by the two departments that showed more service was available at a lower cost to both the County and the City if the two agencies merged.

Incorporated on June 4, 1956, Stanton is governed by a Council-Manager form of government, encompasses an area of 3.1 square miles and is home to just over 38,000 residents. Bordered by Cypress, Garden Grove, and Anaheim, the City is home to the Adventure City Amusement Park. A major portion of property on Beach Boulevard is being developed as the Renaissance Plaza which will include condominiums and retail stores and restaurants. Stanton is home to three public and two private elementary schools, one private intermediate / high school, and one public library.

Staton Staff The Stanton Sheriff’s Station is located in the Stanton Civic Center, 11100 Cedar Street. The station is open with a public counter Monday though Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The station is closed on County holidays. The mailing address is Box 8, Stanton, CA 90680

Lieutenant Lee Trujillo, a 22 year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, serves as the Police Service Chief for the City of Stanton. As part of his responsibilities, Lieutenant Trujillo manages 5 sergeants, 4 investigators, 25 deputy sheriffs, 1 administrative manager and 8 additional professional staff members. The Sheriff’s Department provides full police services for the City. The enforcement of most City codes, providing crossing guards, issuing parking citations and most other parking issues is provided by the City of Stanton, Department of Safety and Neighborhood Services. In addition to the patrol and investigative services offered directly from Stanton Police Services, the Sheriff’s Department also provides street and regional narcotics suppression programs, a Gang Enforcement Team (GET), a mounted unit, a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, the Hazardous Devices (BOMB) Squad, hostage negotiations, numerous special investigation units, helicopter patrols, the Drug Use Is Life Abuse (DUILA) drug education program, and a large complement of professional service and patrol trained Reserve Deputy Sheriffs, many of whom volunteer their time for City events such as Summerfest and the Annual Classic Car show.

For patrol and general crimes investigations purposes, the city is divided into three geographical areas. Each area has a team of uniformed deputies that work within it every patrol shift and an investigator that does follow-up investigative work on general crimes. Each area also has a supervisor designated as the area liaison who is available to work with community groups and concerned persons within that area. The area supervisor is responsible for coordinating and resolving law enforcement issues within his/her assigned area.

These cases involve all crimes except homicide, rape, fraud, vice and narcotics, which are handled by the appropriate specialty detail of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

When necessary, Stanton Police Services also has a Directed Patrol Team consisting of up to 3 uniformed deputy sheriff’s that work specialized patrol assignments to target specific problem areas within the City.

Stanton Police Services provides limited school programs including student safety, drug and anti-gang education, and pedestrian and bicycle safety presentations.

DStanton Police Services also provides Neighborhood Watch Captain trainings twice per year. The next training is tentatively set for October 2007. A space can be reserved by calling Administrative Manager D. Hynes at the Stanton Sub-station, 714-891-2481.
