OC Sheriff Sandra Hutchens honored as a "Shining Star" by the Major County Sheriff's Association.

Sheriff Sandra Hutchens was selected as the 2013 third quarter recipient of the Major County Sheriff’s Association’s “Shining Star” award for her incredible leadership over the last five years. The Major County Sheriff’s Association (MCSA) is a professional law enforcement association of elected sheriffs representing counties or parishes with populations of 500,000 or more. The Executive Board of the MCSA makes the selection of the Shining Star Sheriff from the members of the Association. The Executive Board considers the level of involvement in national public safety and detention operations; progressive and innovative practices; quality of leadership; and contributions to the mission and goals of the MCSA. This prestigious award honors leaders and innovators with significant accomplishments  who have created programs that help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of law enforcement operations.
