    Undefeated Black Talons Win Gold

    In June 2013, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department “Black Talons” Roller Hockey team participated in the Inaugural United States Police and Fire Championship (USPFC) in San Diego. The United States Police and Fire Championship (http://uspfc.org/) is an Olympic type multi-sport’s program for full time professional law enforcement officers and firefighters. The “Games” offers approximately sixty sports, ranging from Angling to Wrestling. This event was formerly known as the Western States Police and Fire Games.

    The games were hosted by San Diego Police Department with the roller hockey event being played in Escondido. The team was comprised of personnel from around the department. The “Black Talons” played three games in the one day tournament competing against teams from the Southern California area.

    The Black Talons played an exceptional tournament with a first game win over Los Angeles Police Department and an outstanding final game, with a win over Newport Beach Police Department to go undefeated and win the Gold Medal. This was the eighth medal won in twelve years of playing in the games. Congratulations Black Talons!
