OCSD Brings Home Gold at US Police and Fire Championships!

The United States Police and Fire Championships were held on June 21-29th in San Diego. This Olympic-type event drew over 5,000 competitors, in over 55 different sporting events. OCSD Teams that took home the Gold included:

Women’s Soccer – The women’s soccer team, So-Cal Combined, was made up of officers from various Southern California Law Enforcement Agencies, including six deputies proudly representing the OCSD. So-Cal Combined took home the Gold Medal and remained undefeated throughout the competition, beating their rivals, the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was represented by: 

(Left to Right) - Deputy Maria Ward (CWJ), Deputy Roxana Enriquez (CWJ), Deputy Victoria Ditrih (CWJ), Investigator Vanessa Anderson, Deputy Elizabeth McConathy (Musick) and Deputy Allison Jablonsky (Mission Viejo Police Services).

Shooting – In the Women’s Shooting Relay Event, the OCSD Women’s shooting team “Trigger Team -18” smoked all competition taking the Gold! Even more impressive, rather than using competition pistols, the team elected to shoot their OCSD issued Glocks.

In the Individual Shooting Competition, Deputy Laurel Yoshimoto finished in first place, and Sheriff’s Special Officer Jean Tindugan finished in third place.

The team wished to acknowledge and thank Weapons Instructor Jerry Lee for his support and for facilitating practice time.
