City of Laguna Woods Overview

The City of Laguna Woods was incorporated on January 1, 1999 as Orange County’s 32nd city. This quaint bedroom community is located in the Saddleback Valley region of South Orange County and is comprised of four square miles of land with over 16,000 residents.
 
Since July 1, 1999, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department has provided contracted law enforcement services for the City of Laguna Woods. The Laguna Woods Police Services team consists of a Lieutenant who serves as the Chief of Police Services, an Administrative Sergeant, and Deputy Sheriffs assigned to the city. Due to Laguna Woods being a contracted partner with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the city benefits from the use of the Sheriff’s Department’s specialized resources such as Helicopter Patrols, Investigations, Homeless Outreach Team, Crime Scene Investigations, Patrol K9s, Bomb Squad, and others.

Laguna Woods consistently has one of the lowest crime rates of any city in Orange County.
